10 things to remember for winter trips

A winter trip can be a fantastic experience, but it's important to plan well and remember to bring everything you need. Here are ten things you should have on your packing list when you're going on a winter trip:

  1. Warm and breathable outerwear, such as a shell jacket and pants that protect against wind and weather.
  2. Wool underwear that keeps you warm even when it gets damp.
  3. Good winter boots with a good sole that provides good grip in the snow.
  4. Warm hat, scarf and mittens that protect your head, neck and hands from the cold.
  5. Sunglasses or ski goggles to protect your eyes from bright sunlight and snow blindness.
  6. A thermos with a hot drink, such as tea or cocoa, which can provide a warm break along the way.
  7. Foods that are easy to carry and provide good energy, such as dried fruit, nuts and energy bars.
  8. A first aid kit including wound care, plasters and paracetamol to deal with minor injuries and ailments along the way.
  9. A mobile phone with full battery capacity and stay in an area with good coverage, so you can stay in touch with the outside world and get help if necessary.
  10. A well-planned route with an overview of where you are going and how long the trip will take.

Also remember to tell someone where you are going and when you expect to be back, so they can notify you if you don't show up at the agreed time. Good planning and a few extra items on your packing list can help you have a safe and memorable winter trip.
