ÁRRAN 360° is a hybrid between indigenous storytelling and innovative technology. It is the first ever project to present six original 360° films by six leading Sámi filmmakers and artists from Sápmi. The films are shown in the world’s largest purpose-built lavvo equipped with a 28-meter-long screen. This is a spectacular project that combines Sámi storytelling with high tech. It will be an exciting mix of traditions where it all takes place in a lavvo, but with new technology and modern storytelling formats.

Árran is a Northern Sami word for the hearth in a lavvo, and around the fire we have told stories since time immemorial. With ÁRRAN 360° we will invite audiences from all over the world to experience the power of our distinctive visual storytelling tradition.

The project is developed by the International Sami Film Institute (ISFI) in collaboration with the Office for Contemporary Art Norway (OCA) and the Norwegian Film Institute (NFI). We at Arctic Lavvo have been involved in the project as a producer and supplier of the lavvo used in the project.

The project had its world debut in Venice in the fall of 2022, and was shown for the first time in Sápmi during the Tromsø International Film Festival 2023. ÁRRAN 360° is a completely new and different way of conveying Sámi stories, myths and ways of life. Being part of this project is an honor and we at Arctic Lavvo are proud to have been part of this unique project.
