The ability to move the sled easily and safely with a snowmobile provides unparalleled freedom to create magical experiences that will be remembered for a lifetime.
The Aurora Sled is permanently set up and can be moved effortlessly by snowmobile. We offer five optional add-on packages so you can choose whether you want us to deliver the sled fully equipped and ready for use—or if you prefer to customize the interior to your own vision.
Aurora Sled – Fresh Air Hotel
When purchasing the Aurora Sled – Fresh Air Hotel, you get the opportunity to design and build your own interior. The base package comes fully assembled, features a double-layer canvas, and is ready to use without furnishings or interior installations.
Rekkasled
The foundation of the Aurora Sled is the Rekkasled, produced by Sledespesialisten AS in Børselv, Finnmark. With over 30 years of experience, they have perfected the art of sled building, focusing on high quality and traditional local craftsmanship. Their sleds are used by private adventurers, reindeer herders, the tourism industry, and research institutions across Northern Norway and Svalbard.
Renowned for their driving comfort, Rekkasleds feature skis that move independently of the platform. The drawbar is equipped with dual suspension, providing a smoother ride. Each sled is delivered with two coats of stain and a lacquered drawbar.
Platform
The platform is built to withstand heavy loads while preventing twisting during transport. It is insulated with 15 cm styrofoam XPS and reinforced with waterproof plywood at the base. The platform is double-stained in the same color as the sled for a durable and stylish finish.
Tow Hitch
At the rear of the platform, a tow hitch is installed, allowing you to connect multiple sleds in sequence.
Flooring
Inside, the Aurora Sled is fitted with Flotex Metro flooring. Flotex combines a reinforced vinyl base with a dense, velour-like nylon surface securely anchored to the waterproof backing. This creates a unique flooring solution that offers the durability and resistance of vinyl with the softness, warmth, and comfort of carpet.
Compared to traditional textile flooring, Flotex is exceptionally resilient and resistant to permanent deformation under stress, while remaining easy to clean with water and standard cleaning products. Installed “floating” directly on the styrofoam XPS insulation, it is also completely waterproof on the underside.
Frame
The frame structure consists of 12 mm fiberglass poles with crossbars in aluminum.
Outer Canvas
The outer canvas is crafted from 400 g cotton/polyester in white—the same high-quality fabric used in our lavvus and gammes. The lower edge of the canvas is double-layered for added insulation.
Inner Canvas
The Aurora Sled is delivered with an inner canvas of 145 g rot-proof treated cotton. This creates an insulating “air pocket” between the layers while hiding the frame construction, giving the interior a more refined, exclusive look.
Windows & Ventilation

Windows: 7 side windows and 3 roof windows, made of durable 1 mm PVC, each fitted with sewn-in curtains.

Ventilation: 2 vents with interior closure—one in front and one at the rear.
